Broadband Damping

All Newport optical table tops feature a 4.8 mm thick stainless steel working surface, a constrained layer core, and composite edge finish to provide best in class broadband damping.

Tuned Damping

Superior performance optical tables include two precision tuned dampers to selectively eliminate two fundamental structural table modes and their entire harmonics. Tuned damping eliminates low-frequency natural resonance where vibrations are naturally amplified.

Active Damping

Is there a known vibration source on the table top that may require additional active damping? Our ST-UT2 Series SmartTable optical table tops can be field upgraded to unparalleled performance by adding two IQ active dampers which effectively address medium frequency resonances by sensing the vibrations and driving shakers at the opposite phase to cancel them out.
