The RV Series steel rotation stages combine high precision positioning and extremely high load capacities to operate in a large variety of conditions for scientific and industrial applications. Four stage sizes and four DC motor configurations are available. A folded motor may provide the RV stage with a more desirable footprint in certain systems. Closed-loop DC servo systems are the recommended choice for demanding applications requiring either higher rotational speed, repeatability, accuracy or smaller minimum incremental motion (MIM).

Features
Steel Construction
The tool steel construction ensures enhanced rotation accuracy due to the ground bearing surfaces. The single monolithic design offers improved stiffness and thermal stability without compromising dynamic performance.
Highest Load Capacity
The double row of preloaded ball bearings allows for higher off center loads for its small footprint. The largest member of the RV DC motor product family can bear up to 650 kg or rotate up to 80 °/s while maintaining eccentricity of less than 4 µm.
High Speed and High Torque DC Motor Versions
High speed (CC and HAT) and high torque (CCHL and HAHL) versions of the RV folded DC motor stages are available. The high speed versions enable speeds up to 80°/sec. The high torque versions are equipped with a reduction gear which provides higher torque and payload inertia capacity. A rotary encoder is mounted on the worm gear shaft of the CC and CCHL versions. When superior repeatability, position stability and speed regulation is needed, the high speed HAT version features a high-resolution direct reading encoder and tachometer. (RV120HAHL-F includes direct reading encoder, but no tachometer.)
Error Mapping Services
For critical positioning applications, Newport offers error mapping upon request for RV-HAT and RV-HAHLT stages driven by our XPS advanced motion controller. We will measure, implement, and verify the results of this error map that will individually optimize each stage's position accuracy. In addition, multi-axis error mapping is also available. Measurements are made at 20.0 ±0.2 °C. A certificate of calibration will be provided with your stage. Actual data may also be provided upon request.
Configurable Limit Switches
Most of the RV models are designed with optical limit switches to limit movement to 170°. These can be enabled or disabled for complete 360° motion with a simple "Allen" wrench.
Metrology Report Included at No Additional Cost
Newport guarantees specification values which are measured and recorded following ASME B5.57 and ISO 230-2 standards. The typical performance values are two times better than the guaranteed specifications.
