The RV Series steel rotation stages combine high precision positioning and extremely high load capacities to operate in a large variety of conditions for scientific and industrial applications. Five stage sizes and two stepper motor configurations are available, as are vacuum compatible versions. For applications requiring the highest torque, the BPE stepper motor version is recommended. Also, open-loop stepper motors can be a lower cost alternative to certain closed-loop DC servo systems.
Ideal for high load applications with up to 6500 N load and torque capacity of 80 N·m
All steel, single monolithic construction offers high stiffness and thermal stability
Double row preloaded ball bearings allow for high off-center loads in a reduced footprint
Precision ground and hardened worm gear with self-compensating preload
Lower cost alternative to certain closed-loop DC servo systems
Folded version for applications with space constraints and DC Motor version are also available.

Features
Steel Construction
The tool steel construction ensures enhanced rotation accuracy due to the ground bearing surfaces. The single monolithic design offers improved stiffness and thermal stability without compromising dynamic performance.
Highest Load Capacity
The double row of preloaded ball bearings allows for higher off center loads for its small footprint. The largest member of the RV stepper motor product family can bear up to 650 kg or rotate up to 20 °/s while maintaining eccentricity of less than 4 µm.
Full-Step and Mini-Step Stepper Motors
Full-step (BPE and PE) and mini-step (BPP and PP) versions of the RV stepper motor stages are available. The full-step version is equipped with a reduction gear to obtain higher torque and is primarily designed for applications requiring the direct positioning accuracy to be maintained to within the stage's mechanical resolution when power is switched off. The mini-step versions offer a 1/10-step per encoder count, enabling speed of up to 20°/sec. With the exception of the RVS80PP, these stages feature a worm-mounted rotary encoder for improved accuracy and repeatability and to detect motor stalling, an important feature for applications with high acceleration ramps and high torques or payload inertias. For the RVS80PP, position is attained by the number of commanded steps and micro-steps.
Vacuum Compatible Versions
Vacuum compatible verions of the RV series full-step stepper motor stages are available. They can be used in vacuum environment down to 10-6 hPa. Check out our vacuum products brochure for more information. Contact us today to discuss your application requirements.
Configurable Limit Switches
Most of the RV models are designed with optical limit switches to limit movement to 170°. These can be enabled or disabled for complete 360° motion with a simple "Allen" wrench.
Metrology Report Included at No Additional Cost
Newport guarantees specification values which are measured and recorded following ASME B5.57 and ISO 230-2 standards. The typical performance values are two times better than the guaranteed specifications.
